Éste es uno de los libros sobre la pedagogía Montessori que más me ha gustado y que menos me ha gustado hasta ahora, ¿cómo se come eso? Enseguida os cuento.

Lo que me gusta:

Profundiza bastante en el desarrollo psico-motor del niño sin por ello dejar de ser una lectura amena y ligera.

El libro hace un recorrido desde el nacimiento del niño hasta los tres años, explicando qué necesita el niño en cada etapa, y cómo los adultos podemos ofrecérselo mediante las experiencias y el entorno adecuados. Aunque no se trata de un manual, ofrece muchas ideas que podemos poner en práctica y lo que para mí es más importante; explica los beneficios que el niño va a obtener gracias a la aplicación de dichas ideas.

Gran parte del libro se centra en el desarrollo del bebé, y posteriormente se tratan las áreas más relacionadas con la franja de edad de 0 a 3 años; Vida Práctica, Cuidado Personal y Lenguaje, para terminar con un capítulo dedicado al Desarrollo de la Voluntad, un aspecto frecuentemente olvidado dentro de la auto-formación del niño.

Lo que no me gusta:

Hay ciertas partes del libro que me han "chirriado", en concreto cuando se habla del destete entre los 6 y los 9 meses, de poner al bebé a dormir en su propia habitación a partir de los 4 meses... Sugerencias que desde su punto de vista favorecen la independencia del bebé pero que en mi opinión no respetan las necesidades de éste.

Dicho esto, el resto del libro me parece fabuloso, pero creo que puede crear gran confusión a los padres que lo lean antes de haber leído otros libros escritos por la propia Maria Montessori. Ella no escribió específicamente sobre la etapa de 0 a 3 años, pero sí escribió en general sobre el desarrollo del niño y la necesidad de respetar sus necesidades, y creo que las autoras de este libro han olvidado eso en ciertos momentos en los que han dado más valor a la independencia que a "seguir al niño".

This is one of the books on Montessori pedagogy that I've both liked and disliked the most buy now, how is this possible? I'll tell you in a minute.

What I like about this book:

It goes deep enough in the psycho-motor development of the child without thereby ceasing to be a light reading.

The book makes a journey from birth until the age of three years, explaining what the child needs at each stage, and how adults can offer it through the appropriate experiences and environment. Although not a manual, it offers many practical ideas that we can implement and what is more important to me; explains the benefits your child will gain through the implementation of these ideas.

Much of the book focuses on the development of the baby, and then covers the areas most related to the 0-3 ages; Practical Life, Personal Care and Language , ending with a chapter on the Development of the Will, an often forgotten aspect within the self-formation of the child.

What I don't like about this book:

There are certain parts of the book that didn't sound quite right to me, particularly when it comes to weaning between 6 and 9 months, putting the baby to sleep in his own room from 4 months... Suggestions they make in order to favor baby independence but in my opinion do not respect the baby's needs.

That being said, the rest of the book is fabulous, but I think it can create great confusion for parents to read it before other books written by Maria Montessori herself. She did not write specifically about the stage of 0-3 years, but did write in general about child development and the importance of respecting their needs, and I think the authors of this book have forgotten that in certain moments when they have given more value to independence than to "follow the child".
