Cuando Carla Trepat contactó conmigo para presentarme su libro El Tesoro de Lilith, tuve claro que me apetecía un montón leerlo y añadirlo a nuestra pequeña biblioteca familiar.

Al igual que les ocurre a muchas mujeres, la educación y la cultura que me han rodeado desde pequeña han hecho que mi visión de la sexualidad, el placer y el conocimiento de mi propio cuerpo no sean todo lo claros y limpios que me gustaría. Es ahora, de adulta, cuando he empezado a tener una mayor conexión con mi feminidad y aún me queda mucho camino por recorrer para logar eliminar todos los prejuicios y tabúes con los que crecí.

Me gustaría que mis hijos (los dos, niño y niña) no tengan que esperar a ser adultos para empezar a "luchar" contra esos tabúes, sino que crezcan entendiendo que la sexualidad, el placer y el ciclo menstrual no son algo sucio sino que forman parte de nuestra naturaleza.

Este cuento es un gran recurso para abordar estos temas de una manera transparente, y es perfecto para todas la edades, ya que al estar todo explicado en forma de cuento y con metáforas, transmite sólo la información que la niña necesita en cada momento de su vida.

El cuento está principalmente pensado para las niñas, pero yo por supuesto tengo la intención de leerlo tanto con Sara como con Alejandro, porque creo que no solo las mujeres debemos ser conscientes de nuestro cuerpo y nuestros ciclos, creo que es necesario que también los hombres sean conscientes de ello, porque al fin y al cabo ellos conviven con nosotras y sólo podrán respetarnos completamente si conocen y comprenden lo que es ser mujer, aunque sea desde fuera.

Por último comentar que al final del cuento hay una guía didáctica que a mí me ha encantado, no sólo con ideas sobre cómo contar el cuento y con información para abordar las dudas que puedan surgir, sino también con sugerencias para ayudar a las madres a conocerse y a reconciliarse con su ciclo menstrual, porque es el primer paso que tenemos que dar si queremos transmitir a nuestras hijas que tenemos una relación sana con nuestro cuerpo.

When Carla Trepat contacted me to introduce her book Lilith's Treasure, it was clear that I wanted to read it and add it to our little family library.

As happens to many women, education and culture that have surrounded me since childhood have made my vision of sexuality, pleasure and knowledge of my body not as clear and clean as I would like. It is now, as an adult, when I started having a greater connection with my femininity and I still have a long way to go before I can remove all prejudices and taboos with which I grew up.

I would like that my children (both boy and girl) don't have to wait to be adults to start "fighting" against these taboos, but grow understanding that sexuality, pleasure and the menstrual cycle are not dirty but part of our nature.

This book is a great resource to address these issues in a transparent manner, and is perfect for all ages, since being explained in story form and with metaphors, it transmits only the information that the child needs at each moment of their lifetime.

The story is primarily intended for girls, but of course I intend to read it both with Sara and Alejandro, because I believe that not only women should be aware of our body and our cycles, I think it is necessary that the men are aware of it too, because after all they live with us and will only fully respect us if they know and understand what being a woman means.

Finally  I want to remark that at the end of the story is a little guide that I have loved, not only with ideas about how to tell the tale and information to address questions that may arise, but also with suggestions to help mothers get to know themselves and reconcile with their menstrual cycle because it is the first step we must take if we want to show our daughters how to have a healthy relationship with our body.
